Apprentice Welder / Fabricator

G&S Stainless Services Limited have an exciting new opportunity for an apprentice Welder Fabricator to join our expanding team. Job overview The position is a modern apprenticeship leading to becoming a qualified Welder/Fabricator.

It is anticipated that the apprenticeship will last approximately 4 years. The successful individual will work closely alongside the Welding/Fabrication team in order to manufacture components for various industries using a range of welding equipment to include MIG and TIG. Our strong aim would be to offer the person a permanent contract at the end of the apprenticeship, but this is not guaranteed.

What will I learn? Main duties are to:

  • Learn how to work safely at all times whilst operate welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Completion of college qualifications on day release with the apprentice being responsible for their own transport to the college. The same high standards are expected in college as in work.
  • Undertaking all assigned tasks in the workshop. A structured programme will be prepared aimed at providing general experience in all aspects of our Fabrication/Welding shop.
  • The apprenticeship is 4 years total.
  • Product Design Engineer

    Job Description and Responsabilities

  • To design and develop a prototype of the new product undertaking the product design process.
  • To liaise with other team members and production staff to ensure efficient manufacturing processes.
  • To carry out the tasks outlined in the project work-plan and liaise with your Company and Academic Supervisors on an ongoing basis for the development of a range of new products.
  • To convene and service monthly technical meetings with the core project team (Project Manager, Company Supervisor and Academic Lead).
  • To report formally on a quarterly basis on progress with the work-plan to a Project Management Group (PMG), this includes the assigned Co-Innovate Programme Manager.
  • Complete training courses relevant to the project when required.
  • To work closely with the academic partner and travel to the academic institute as required.
  • Any other duties which might fall within the general remit of the post.
  • Essential Criteria

    Candidates must posses the following:
  • Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in an engineering role. This could include a undergraduate placement.
  • Experience of Solidworks or other 3D Drawing package.
  • Legally permitted to work in the EU.
  • A positive attitude to work.
  • Desirable Criteria
  • Practical experience of product design and design for manufacture and assembly.
  • Practical experience of efficient manufacturing processes.
